A comarca de Bergantiños é unha das 53 comarcas galegas e esta situada na provincia da Coruña e a súa capital é Carballo. Pertencen a esta comarca os concellos de Cabana de Bergantiños, Carballo, Coristanco, A Laracha, Laxe, Malpica de Bergantiños e Ponteceso. Ten unha superficie de 742 km² e tiña 68.928 habitantes no ano 2014.

Xeografía |


Sitúase ao oeste da provincia da Coruña, en plena Costa da Morte, limitando ao norte co océano Atlántico e a comarca da Coruña, ao sur coa comarca do Xallas e a comarca da Terra de Soneira, ao leste coa comarca de Ordes e ao oeste co océano Atlántico. Os seus 742 km² de extensión repártense de maneira desigual entre os seus 7 concellos, dende o máis pequeno, Laxe, que abrangue unha superficie de 36,9 km², ata o máis grande, Carballo, que ten unha superficie de 167,49 km².




Vista desde a parroquia de Canduas da desembocadura do río Anllons.


O río máis importante, e no que se artella toda a rede hidrográfica da comarca, é o río Anllóns que atravesa esta comarca de leste a oeste formando no seu discorrer polas terras de Bergantiños un val e na súa desembocadura forma un estuario, que dá diversas formas segundo a marea estea baixa ou alta, antes de desembocar na ría de Corme e Laxe. O cumio de máis importancia é o monte Castelo (598 m). Bergantiños dispón de numerosas praias, como as de Baldaio, Balares, Laxe e Traba de Laxe, Area Maior de Malpica e Razo-Baldaio, Rebordelo en Cabana.


O clima desta comarca é de temperaturas suaves, con pequenas oscilacións térmicas e abundantes precipitacións.



Economía |


Na economía desta comarca destacan sobre todo a agricultura a gandaría e a pesca.
Entre os portos da comarca destacan os de Caión, Malpica, Corme e Laxe.



Lugares de interese |


Entre o patrimonio histórico destacan o Dolmen de Dombate, a Pedra da Arca e o Castro de Borneiro, a Torre da Penela, a igrexa e as Torres de Mens. Entre os espazos naturais salientar o areal de Baldaio, a enseada do río Anllóns, as praias de Laxe, Traba Razo e Balares, os porto de Malpica, Corme, Laxe así como as illas Sisargas xunto co cabo de Santo Adrián.

Poboación |


Con 68.928 habitantes en 2014, a comarca de Bergantiños é a cuarta comarca máis poboada da provincia da Coruña e a décima de Galiza. A meirande parte da poboación da comarca concéntrase na capital, o concello de Carballo, onde reside algo máis do 45% da poboación total da mesma. Por outra banda, o concello menos poboado é o de Laxe, que con 3.207 habitantes representa menos do 5% da poboación total da comarca. A perda de poboación converteuse nunha constante na comarca, onde case todos os concellos perden poboación coas únicas excepcións de Carballo e A Laracha.

  • Laxe: Laxe (1.804 hab.), Matío (132 hab.) e Mórdomo (121 hab.).


  • Malpica de Bergantiños: Malpica (1.957 hab.), Buño (537 hab.) e Barizo (251 hab.).

Historia |





Pedra da Arca en Cerqueda, Malpica de Bergantiños


Debido a acidez do chan mesturada coas inmensas choivas predominantes na zona non se dispón de restos arqueolóxicos (os máis antigos que se puideron datar derón unha cronoloxía moi por debaixo dos atopados noutros sitios[3]) nin antropolóxicos no que poder fundarse para determinar a maneira e forma de vida dos primeiros poboadores da comarca.


Do período megalitico atópanse varios monumentos dos que destacan os dolmens de Dombate, Pedra da Arca, Pedra Moura e Fornela dos Mouros.


Da Idade de Bronce atópanse numerosos castros dos que destacan os de Borneiro e Pedra da Arca.
