Os anglos foron un pobo xermánico que no século V invadiu e emigrou a Gran Bretaña, xunto cos xutos e os saxóns, moi relacionados étnica e lingüisticamente con estes últimos. Os anglos vivían no que hoxe é o norte de Alemaña, entre o río Rhin e o Elba e en parte do istmo de Xutlandia, en Schlewing.


A súa lingua é unha das bases do inglés xunto coa antiga lingua saxoa, sendo moi semellante a esta. En Gran Bretaña fundaron os reinos de Mercia, Northumbria e Anglia Oriental, e chegaron a unha mestura cultural cos saxóns, dando forma ó concepto anglosaxón e sendo a palabra da que deriva o nome do país, Inglaterra, England ou Terra Anglorum en latín.
